GETFLSH

Support

The questions people actually ask, answered from what the app does. Anything that is not here: support@getflsh.com, and you will get a real answer.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

Do you keep my photographs

Not in any form we can open. Every frame is made on your phone and written to the app's own folder there. Outside a shared roll, nothing leaves the phone except through you: an export to your camera roll, or your own iCloud backup, if you have it switched on.

A photograph shot into a shared roll does travel, so that the others can see it in the morning. It is locked on your phone first, with a key that is in that roll's link and on the phones in the roll, never with us, and it waits in iCloud for the people in the roll. We cannot open it, and your phone takes it out again the next time the app is opened after the roll ends.

We also cannot see what you shoot, so we cannot recover it for you. If a photograph matters, export it.

I took photographs and they are not in my camera roll

They are in the app. Everything you shoot goes into the darkroom, the contact sheet inside GETFLSH, and stays there until you export it. Open it from the small square beside the shutter, choose a frame, and export it to put it in your camera roll.

Two things hold frames back on purpose, and neither loses them. With Develop in the morning switched on in Settings, frames go in without being shown and arrive at six. And a frame shot into a shared roll arrives when that roll develops.

What happens to them if I delete the app or change phone

The darkroom lives inside the app. Delete GETFLSH and it goes with it. A phone restored from a backup keeps it; a phone set up as new does not. Anything you have exported is in your camera roll and safe either way.

If a photograph matters, export it. We hold nothing of yours that we could open, and have no way to recover a photograph.

Can I get back a frame I deleted

No. Deleting a frame in the darkroom removes it at once. There is no Recently Deleted folder, as there is in Photos, and we hold nothing we could open, so nobody can bring it back. The app asks before it deletes. A frame you had already exported is still in your camera roll, and one shot into a shared roll is still inside that roll until the roll ends.

Why is there a GETFLSH mark on my photograph

A free export carries a small GETFLSH mark across the bottom of the picture, with the name of the chapter that made it, at up to 2048 pixels on the long edge. Watching one short ad gives you five clean prints: no mark, full size, and they keep until you use them. With Pro there is never a mark.

Clips work the same way. A clip is kept clean in the darkroom, and the mark goes on the copy that leaves: free with the mark, or clean for one print. A clip that leaves with the mark is written again with it first, which takes a few seconds.

Is there advertising in the app

One video, and only when you ask for it: it buys five clean prints, or lends a Pro chapter for a night. Without Pro there is also one small ad at the foot of two darkroom pages, REPRINTS, from the second photograph you bring in, and the list of shared rolls, once there is a roll on it. The camera, your own rolls, an open photograph and the inside of a shared roll never show one. With Pro there is no advertising anywhere.

Why did a form from Google appear

Where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent before any ad loads: the first time one of those two darkroom pages is about to show one, or the first time you ask for a video. Saying no costs nothing here. You can change your answer in Settings, under Advertising choices.

PRO

Can I try a Pro chapter first

Yes. On any chapter marked PRO, choose TONIGHT · ONE AD. It is yours until the roll turns over at six in the morning (borrowed in the last three hours of a night, it lasts until the six after that), and costs nothing but the minute of the ad. One chapter a night: tomorrow you can borrow another.

Will there be new chapters, and do I pay for them

Yes, there will. New chapters arrive in updates to the app, with no schedule. With Pro, each one is included from the day it arrives, at no extra cost, whichever plan you chose.

Can I change the app's icon

With Pro, yes. In Settings, App icon has two answers: PRO puts Pro's own icon on your home screen, with its ring lit and a star on it, and ORIGINAL brings back the one the app arrives with. iPhone confirms each change with a message of its own, and the icon stays as you left it.

I bought Pro and the app does not know

Open the menu on the camera (the three dots), then Settings, and tap GETFLSH PRO at the top; or go to any chapter marked PRO and choose KEEP IT · GETFLSH PRO. On the screen that opens, tap RESTORE PURCHASE, just under CONTINUE. It needs the same Apple Account that made the purchase, and a connection. This is also what to do on a new phone.

How do I cancel

In your iPhone's Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then GETFLSH, then Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. The one-time purchase has nothing to cancel.

I would like a refund

Apple takes every payment and handles every refund; we cannot issue one ourselves. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in the app made you want one, we would still like to hear what it was.

SHARED ROLLS

How do people join

Whoever starts the roll taps INVITE THE OTHERS and sends the link. Open it on an iPhone that has GETFLSH, type a name of up to twelve letters, and you are in. You can also pick one of eleven lights to go by in that roll, a candle, a torch, a moon: the dim ones are taken, and picking none leaves you with your initials. Whoever started the roll is the bolt. Up to twelve people fit in a roll, and each has 36 frames unless whoever started it chose fewer. A thirteenth phone can open the link, and is told the roll is full: it neither sends to the roll nor receives from it.

Anybody who has the link can join until the roll develops, so send it only to people you want in it. Whoever started the roll can also turn off Let new people in, on the roll's screen, once everybody is in: the link then lets nobody else join, and it can be turned back on. That is optional.

To send its frames the phone has to be signed in to iCloud, which is where the roll keeps everybody's until the morning. There is nothing to set up, and it uses none of your iCloud storage.

When does it develop

When whoever started it chose: AT DAWN or IN 6 HOURS. Every phone opens it at the same minute, and until then nobody sees a single frame, including whoever took it. WHEN I SAY is there too, for a roll kept to yourself: it has no minute to put in a link, so a roll set that way asks for one of the other two before it can be sent.

How does everybody see everybody's photographs

There is nothing to press. Each photograph is sent to the roll as you shoot it, locked, and when the roll develops every phone in it brings the whole night in. Open the roll and it is there, in the order it happened, with a light or initials on the frames other people shot. Tap anybody at the top of the roll to see only what they shot. MINE shows only yours.

A photograph shot with no signal goes up the next time GETFLSH is open with one. So if somebody's frames are missing in the morning, ask them to open the app. Clips are not sent: they stay on the phone that filmed them.

How do I keep the roll

SAVE THE ROLL, on the roll's screen, puts every frame the page is showing into your camera roll at once. Under EVERYONE that is the whole roll; under MINE, or on one person's page, the button counts the frames there and saves those. Free with the GETFLSH mark, clean with Pro. For a clean one without Pro, open a frame and export it, and one ad buys five. Other people's frames are 2048 pixels on the long edge, which is the size that travels; your own are in your darkroom at full size.

How long does a shared roll last, and what disappears

Three days after it develops, and there is no setting to change that. The date is shown before you make the roll and counted down the whole time. What goes is the roll, with everybody's frames in it. The frames you shot stay in your own darkroom, which never expires, and whatever you saved to your camera roll stays there.

So the three days are not about losing your photographs. They are for taking home the ones other people shot.

Can I take a photograph out of a roll

Yes, once the roll has developed. Open one of your own frames in it and tap TAKE THIS ONE BACK: it leaves the roll for everybody the next time they open it, and your own copy stays in your darkroom. LEAVE THIS ROLL takes all of yours out. Whoever started the roll can also remove any frame, or remove a person: everything they shot leaves the roll, and their phone stops receiving it. A copy somebody has already saved to their own photos is theirs to keep.

Something is in a roll that should not be

Open the frame. HIDE EVERYTHING FROM stops showing that person's frames on your phone; nobody is told, and their faded circle on the roll's screen brings them back. REPORT takes the frame out of the roll for everybody, the next time each phone opens it, and it cannot be put back. The app shows nobody who reported it, and one person can take three frames out of a roll that way. If you started the roll, the same place has REMOVE FOR EVERYONE and REMOVE with the person's name, in place of hiding.

We cannot see any photograph in a roll. When a report in the roll is not possible, or is not enough, write to support@getflsh.com and say what is wrong. We remove the frame you name, or the whole roll when that is what it takes.

One of my frames was taken out of a roll

Somebody in the roll reported it, or whoever started the roll removed it. Your own copy is still in your darkroom, at full size. We cannot see the frames in a roll, so we act on what the people in it report; if it was a mistake, write to us.

The roll says this phone is not signed in to iCloud

Sign in to your Apple Account at the top of the iPhone's Settings, with iCloud Drive switched on, and open the roll again. Until then the roll still takes your frames and still develops, and you still get everybody else's, but the others do not get yours.

Some of us do not have an iPhone

Only an iPhone can join a roll. To show the night to somebody without one, save it and send them the photographs.

THE CAMERA

Why does the flash always come on

Every chapter is built on flash light, so the app opens with it on. The bolt at the top turns it off whenever you need, and it is on again the next time you open the app.

Does GETFLSH work on my iPhone

It needs iOS 16 or later. A few things depend on the phone itself: the ultra wide needs a phone with that lens, and PLAIN develops the sensor's own file wherever the phone allows it. Everything else works the same on any iPhone that runs it.

FORMULAS

What is a formula

A chapter with the glass in front of it. Pick a chapter, set the grain, the mist, the smear, the streak, the ND and the strength in the camera's ··· menu until the picture is right, then keep it under a name. A formula always names the chapter underneath: the chapters are the camera, and a formula is a way of setting it.

It holds the chapter, the mode, the shape of the frame, and every dial: grain, mist, smear, streak, strength, ND and halation. Keeping one takes a name and nothing else.

How do I send one to somebody

A formula travels as a link. Whoever opens it on an iPhone with GETFLSH sees it running live on their own room before they decide: keep it, or discard it and the camera goes back exactly to where it was.

Someone without the app gets a page instead, which shows what the formula is made of. A code pasted into FORMULAS in the app works too, for when a link will not go through.

Does a formula carry my name, or anything I wrote

No. The link holds the numbers and nothing else. The name you gave your formula stays on your phone, so a formula arrives without one and is named by whoever keeps it. A link that cannot carry words cannot carry abuse, so there is nothing in a received formula to moderate.

The settings ride inside the link itself, so there is no account and no upload, and no database holds your formula. Opening the link's page is an ordinary web request, which the privacy policy describes.

Can I send a formula built on a chapter somebody has not paid for

Yes. The formula runs live on their camera whatever it is built on, and the wall arrives only when they try to keep it.

WRITING TO US

support@getflsh.com, or Contact us in the app's Settings, which opens an email to the same address. If something is broken, say which iPhone you have, which version of iOS, and what you pressed just before it happened. A screenshot helps more than a description.
