Terms of Use

What you may do with GETFLSH, what we promise, and what happens when you pay for something.

THE LICENCE

GETFLSH is licensed to you under Apple's standard licence for apps from the App Store, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That licence is what gives you the right to use the app, and it is between you and the maker of GETFLSH, who is named as the seller on GETFLSH's page in the App Store. It also sets the warranty, the limits of liability, and which law governs it.

This page adds what is particular to GETFLSH: what is yours, what free and Pro include, and how the app may be used. Using the app means you accept both. Where they differ, Apple's licence wins. The app itself, its name, its look and its effects remain its maker's.

GETFLSH is not connected to any maker of cameras, film or flashes, and none of them has approved it. Its chapters are named for what they do, and where a look resembles a product it resembles a general style.

WHO CAN USE IT

You must be at least 13 to use GETFLSH, and at least 16 if you are in a country whose law sets that as the age at which somebody can agree to this on their own. GETFLSH is not built for children and is not offered to them. If you are under that age, ask whoever is responsible for you to agree on your behalf, or do not use it.

WHAT YOU MAKE IS YOURS

Every photograph and video you make with GETFLSH belongs to you, entirely and without condition. We claim no licence over it, no right to use it, and no right to see it. We could not exercise one if we wanted to: what you shoot is kept on your phone, and we cannot see any of it. It leaves only when you export it, when you shoot it into a shared roll, or inside your own iPhone backup. A photograph shot into a shared roll travels locked, with a key we never have; holding that locked copy for the people in the roll until it ends is the one thing you ask of us, and the only thing we do with it. An export made without Pro or a clean print carries a small GETFLSH mark; that is a mark on your photograph, not a claim on it.

You are responsible for what you photograph and for any photograph you bring in to develop, and for having the right to photograph, bring in and share it. The laws on photographing and recording people, and on publishing what you record, differ from country to country, and some ask for more than others, particularly where children are concerned. Following the ones where you are is up to you.

FREE AND PRO

GETFLSH is free to shoot with in every chapter that is not marked PRO; the chapters marked PRO are part of Pro, described below. Frames and clips are saved inside the app at no cost. A photograph can go to your photo library straight away carrying the GETFLSH mark, at up to 2048 pixels on its long edge, with nothing to watch and nothing to pay. Or you can watch a short advertisement, which earns five clean prints: those leave with no mark and at full size, they do not expire, and one is spent for each photograph or clip that saves. A clip leaves the same two ways: with the mark, which is written into the copy that leaves, or clean for one print.

A shared roll costs nothing, for whoever starts it and for whoever joins. Saving a whole night from one puts every frame in your photo library carrying the mark, or clean with Pro, and spends no clean prints.

An advertisement is not always there to be watched. Google decides whether it has one to show, and when it has none the photograph can still leave straight away, with the mark.

Without Pro, two pages of the darkroom show a small advertisement at the foot of the page: REPRINTS, from the second photograph you bring in, and the list of shared rolls, once there is a roll on it. Nothing else in the app does.

GETFLSH PRO unlocks every chapter in the app, shows no advertising anywhere in it, exports every photograph and clip clean and at full size, with no advertisement and no mark, and exports a whole selection at once. A chapter added to the app later is part of Pro from the day it arrives, at no extra cost.

The same short advertisement can also lend you one Pro chapter until the roll turns over at six in the morning, or at the six after that when it is borrowed in the last three hours of a night. One chapter a night can be borrowed. Clean prints and borrowed chapters have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and are kept on your phone, so deleting the app removes the ones you have not used.

Advertisements are chosen and served by Google, not by us. Whatever an advertiser offers is between you and them.

Subscriptions

All purchases are processed by Apple, and Apple's terms govern them. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, though we would rather hear from you than have you leave unhappy.

EVERY LOOK IS MADE OF LIGHT

GETFLSH changes light, colour, contrast, grain and glow, across the whole frame. It does not look for faces and does not reshape them: no reshaping, no generative AI, and it is not a beauty filter. Some looks soften the whole frame, the way glass in front of a lens does, and skin softens with it. This is a design commitment.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP

Frames stay inside GETFLSH until you export them. That means deleting the app, losing the phone, or restoring it without a backup will take them with it. If a photograph matters, export it to your photo library. We hold nothing of yours that we could open, and have no way to recover a photograph.

A frame you delete in the darkroom is removed from it at once. There is no Recently Deleted folder, as there is in Photos, so it cannot be brought back, by you or by us. The app asks before it deletes. A frame shot into a shared roll also has a copy inside that roll, which stays until the roll ends.

Keeping copies is your part of this. A photograph lost because you deleted it, the app was deleted, the phone was lost, broken or replaced, or it was restored without a backup, is lost through nothing we did, and it is not something we answer for.

ACCEPTABLE USE

Do not use GETFLSH to photograph people who have not agreed to it where they would expect privacy, to harass anyone, or for anything unlawful. Do not attempt to defeat the purchase mechanism or the export flow. And keep to any third-party terms that apply to you while you use it, such as your mobile carrier's.

THE FLASH

GETFLSH fires the phone's flash unless you turn it off. On the front camera the screen lights white in its place, and in video the light stays on for the whole clip. Do not fire it into anybody's eyes at close range, at somebody who is driving, or at anyone who has asked you not to. If flashing light affects you, or somebody near you, turn it off first, with the bolt at the top of the camera. A phone that holds its light on gets warm, and iOS dims the light or switches it off when it needs to.

SHARING WITH OTHER PEOPLE

A shared roll and a formula travel as links that you send yourself. What you call a roll travels inside its link, readable by anybody who gets it, and so does the key to what is shot into it: anybody who has the link can join the roll until it develops, and can open its photographs. Choose names you would say out loud, and send links only to people you mean to.

What you shoot into a shared roll is shown to everybody in it once it develops, and each of them can save it to their own photo library. You can take a frame of yours out of the roll, and you can leave the roll, but a copy somebody has already saved is theirs, and beyond your reach and ours. Shoot into a shared roll only what you are content for the people in it to keep, and only what you have the right to show them.

Who answers for what is in a roll. Each person answers for what they shoot into a roll, as they would for a photograph sent any other way. The person who starts a roll is its host: the host decides who is sent the link, sees every frame once the roll develops, and is the one person who can take any frame, or a person, out of it for everybody, as often as it takes, and who can close the roll to new people. Keeping the roll within these terms is the host's part. We do not choose, review or approve what goes into a roll, and we could not, because we cannot see it. What we do is act on a report.

Nothing unlawful goes into a shared roll, nothing that sexualises a minor, nothing meant to harass, threaten or humiliate anybody, and nothing else that is objectionable or abusive. There is no tolerance for any of it, or for people who use a roll that way. The person who started a roll can remove any frame from it, and any person. Anybody else in a roll can stop seeing another person's frames, and can report a frame from the frame itself. A reported frame leaves the roll for everybody, without waiting for us, and each person can take three frames out of a roll that way. We cannot see what is in a roll, so we do not decide these: the people in it do. Whoever shot a frame that was taken out keeps their own copy, is told, and can write to us if it was a mistake. When a report in the roll is not possible, or is not enough, write to support@getflsh.com: a frame reported to us for content like this is removed from where it is kept, and the whole roll when that is what it takes, within 24 hours of our reading the message. We also remove a frame or a roll when a court or an authority with the power to require it does. What we remove leaves each phone in the roll the next time that phone opens the roll.

HOW GETFLSH CHANGES

GETFLSH keeps changing: chapters, light modes and features are added, adjusted, and now and then retired for a good reason, such as a change in iOS or in the law. A change will never add a cost to something you have already paid for. If one takes away something significant that you paid for, you keep every right the law gives you, including asking Apple for a refund.

We may also stop updating GETFLSH, or stop offering it. The copy on your phone goes on working for as long as iOS will run it, apart from sharing a roll with other people, which needs the store we keep running for it. The one-time purchase was for as long as GETFLSH exists, as it says above, and for a subscription period you could not use you keep every right the law gives you, including asking Apple for a refund.

IDEAS YOU SEND US

If you send us a suggestion, we are glad of it, and we are free to use it without owing you anything for it. Your photographs are never part of that: they stay yours, as above.

ENDING IT

You can stop using GETFLSH whenever you like. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription: that is done through Apple, as described above. What happens to the licence itself when it ends is set by Apple's.

WARRANTY AND LIABILITY

We work to make GETFLSH reliable and we fix what breaks. The warranty and the limits of liability are the ones in Apple's licence, and they are not repeated here. Nothing in it or on this page removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement, which in the European Union are many.

IF PART OF THIS FAILS

If a court decides any part of this page cannot stand, the rest still stands and the part that failed is read as narrowly as it must be to work. Apple's licence, this page and the privacy policy are together the whole agreement between us about GETFLSH, and they replace anything said before.

IF GETFLSH CHANGES HANDS

Its maker may pass GETFLSH, and these terms with it, to a company that takes it over, for example one set up to run it. Your rights stay exactly as they are, and so does everything you have bought.

CHANGES AND CONTACT

These terms may change; the date at the top will say when, and this page is linked from Settings inside the app, so what you open there is always the current version.

They are written in English. If they are ever translated, the English version is the one that counts where the two differ, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
